The Kunsteisbahn Schwarzwasser, a 1997 open-air rink on the Köniz and Schwarzenburg border
The Kunsteisbahn Schwarzwasser was built in 1997 beside the Schwarzwasser bridge, on the border between the communes of Köniz and Schwarzenburg. It is run by the Verein Kunsteisbahn Schwarzwasser, known as the VKS, and the Schwarzwasserbrücke railway station is right beside it.
In summer 2011 Köniz and Schwarzenburg each bought half of the site, including the Wanne-Träff clubhouse, and the rink matters a great deal to the region. Seven hockey clubs, a curling club and the skating school use it, and about 100 school classes with some 1,500 pupils visit every year.
A new cooling plant was delivered at the end of September 2025, in time for the 2025/26 season. Besides the clubs and schools, the ice is open for public skating, ice hockey and curling.
