Arkada is a sports palace on Molodezhny Prospekt in Stary Oskol that calls itself the biggest sports complex in the city. Besides the ice arena it has a swimming pool, a gym, a trampoline park, a golf course, billiards and table tennis, and its own site says that more than a quarter of a million visits were registered last year from people who are not club members.
The ice arena offers free skating every day. The hours change from day to day and are posted each week in the palace's community, and children's hockey, figure skating and first lessons on skates run in the same club. Tickets are bought at the ticket office on the day and are charged for each hour on the ice, and skates can be hired on the spot.
Everyone skates counter-clockwise, small children keep to the central circle and beginners to the boards, and young children need a helmet and an adult on skates. Visitors can leave their coats in the cloakroom.
